DiagnoseAt the conclusion of the DIAGNOSE project (Noninvasive Diagnostics and Conservation of Daguerreotypes and Other Photographic Materials), funded by Regione Toscana from the FSC Development and Cohesion Fund as part of Giovanisì for Youth Autonomy, Museo Galileo is hosting a study day to talk about the conservation of daguerreotypes and other photographic materials.

Tecnologie laser e altri metodi innovativi per la caratterizzazione e la conservazione dei materiali fotografici e d’arte moderna
Monday 3 June 2024

The key role and remarkable value of the photographic asset as a historical and artistic document to be preserved have only recently been recognized. Coordinated by the CNR's National Institute of Optics, the DIAGNOSE project was carried out in collaboration with Museo Galileo, Opificio delle Pietre Dure and El.En. Company, and with the important support of the Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia, heir to the precious Alinari photographic heritage. The project addressed the analytical, conservation and restoration challenges of daguerreotypes and other protein photographic materials with the ambition to experiment and develop innovative systems for their preservation. The outcomes of the project will be discussed during the study day.
