The Digital library of the Museo Galileo suggests informative itineraries organised according to different levels of navigation and tries to transcend the usual limits imposed by the traditional sources of knowledge. Such an approach allows to optimize the potential offered by the new technologies to the humanities area. Galileo//thek@ represents one exemplary model. Another example is the digital library dedicated to the Accademia del Cimento giving the possibility to explore the Saggi di Naturali Esperienze through links substantiated by digital resources. That is also the case of the digital library dedicated to the Perspective and Stanzino delle mathematiche which presents an informatics system based upon this conception of “digital” communication.
Recently, in collaboration with the Multimedia Laboratory, some thematic digital library were conceived as exhibition, like Galileo. Immagini dell’universo dall’antichità al telescopi (Galileo, Representations of the universe from Antiquity to the telescope).
The Digital Library of the Museo Galileo also contains other digital libraries conceived in collaboration with other institutions such as Parnassus scientiarum – collezione Waller di storia della medicina e della scienza.
