An afternoon to celebrate Galileo's birthday. Visitors will be welcomed by the scientist himself, who will take them through the museum's halls, explaining the beautiful collections of ancient scientific instruments. Other characters in epoch costumes will enliven museum's halls, accompanied by the music performed by Marco Papeschi and other young musicians of the Associazione Legamidarte. The guided visits will take place in Italian at 15, 16 and 17.
At the end of the afternoon, from 17.30 to 18.30, visitors will be able to taste a "Galilean aperitif", offered by Opera Laboratori Fiorentini and prepared as mentioned in the works of Galileo and in the letters of his daughter Sister Maria Celeste.
On such occasion Museo Galileo will be extraordinarily open until 19.00.
The zoological section of the Natural History Museum, called "La Specola", will explain its Tribuna di Galileo, a monument which was built in 1841 to celebrate the Galilean scientific discoveries and the protagonists of the progress of experimental sciences. The guided visits will take place in Italian at 14,30, 15 and 15,30.
A special thanks to the Sartoria Teatrale Parigi for the kind permission to use the costumes, to the historical group of San Sepolcro “Alla corte dei Medici” for their participation and to Roland's Social & Business Catering for the aperitif.
