  • Database
Website

This is a kind of virtual inventory of instruments and machines invented from antiquity to the 18th century, that have come down to us, either physically or known indirectly through tradition. It furnishes detailed information on the instruments, their structure and their history, supplemented by bibliographical and iconographical information. Diversified search channels provide access to lists divided according to typology or to precise elements in the content of the entries. Users can participate in producing the catalogue by starting a discussion and offering additions, corrections and suggestions that will be examined by the curators and added at their discretion.
