The conference was devoted to different aspects of the study of scientific instruments and their makers with the aim of honouring Paolo Brenni (1954-2021) one year after his premature passing away. Paolo Brenni was an internationally renowned expert in the history of scientific and technical instruments as well as a long-time collaborator of Museo Galileo. He also cooperated with a number of cultural institutions in the study, restoration, and enhancement of their scientific instrument collections.
The conference was organized by Museo Galileo and Società Italiana degli Storici della Fisica e dell’Astronomia (SISFA), under the sponsorship of the Società Italiana di Storia della Scienza (SISS).
