Il

Museo Galileo is glad to take part in the events organized to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Meyer Children Hospital in Florence with a new project called Il “Dottor Galileo” al Meyer!

The initiative reflects the Museum's committment towards those who have difficulty physically coming to the museum and participating in person in one of our didactic activities. The idea is to give Meyer's little patients and their families a chance to learn about science with laughter and fun, through a series of events (in Italian).

Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 11.45 and at 15, Galileo Galilei and a lady in epoch costumes will tell the hospitalised children about the life and discoveries of the great scientist. Participants will be able to use replicas of telescopes and microscopes and learn how they work.

Sunday, March 20 at 10.30 puppets will be protagonists with “C’era una volta”… il racconto dei burattini, an activity where children will get acquainted with science instruments from the past in a fun way.

The Tuscan scientist will meet Meyer's children and their parents again on Sunday, May 22 at 10.30, with the workshop Gioca e impara con Galileo, where he will tell about his life and discoveries.

On Sunday, June 12, at 10.30, the little patients will be able to retrace the trail of an important character, Amerigo Vespucci, and learn details about life at sea in the 16th century, about nautical instruments used by sailors and about New World foods.
