In the past few days the Colombia national university donated the Museo Galileo the facsimile edition of "Planches anatomiques du corps humain exécutées d'après les dimensions naturelles ... " by Francesco Antommarchi (Paris, 1826). It consists of the edition of the anatomical plates that Paolo Mascagni had prepared for an intended publication of a comprehensive complete anatomy with life-size figures and that in 1826 Antommarchi, Mascagni's pupil and collaborator, published under his own name, together with an introductory essay.
All over the world there are only eight original series of the Mascagni's lithographs and one of them was found in the library of the Colombia national university. On the occasion of the bicentennial independence celebration, the Colombia university published a facsimile edition and sent it to important institutions throughout the world.
