Bright Night 2021Museo Galileo is pleased to join the 2021 edition of Bright-Night, a project for the autonomy of young people supported by Regione Toscana, with two initiatives (in Italian).

The Fra Mauro world map - 25 September, at 11.00 am and at 12.00 pm
What was the image of the world in the mid-15th century? Filippo Camerota, Deputy Director of Museo Galileo, will show visitors the monumental globe created around 1450 by the Camaldolese monk Fra Mauro, which represents a compendium of the geographical novelties and 'literary' discoveries available at that time.

The first telescopes and the rediscovery of the cosmos - 25 September, at 4.00 pm and at 5.00 pm
A journey with the curator Giorgio Strano on the trail of the first instruments that made it possible to explore the sky: thanks to increasingly improved lenses, the known stars revealed unexpected physiognomies and new stars were added to those of the old Ptolemaic cosmos.
