On 27 July, ViATor Via Appia Traiana officina per la ricerca was inaugurated in Palazzo Angelini in Buonalbergo (Benevento). It is not only a museum but also a documentation centre on the history of the ancient Via Traiana (Trajan Road), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The exhibition intertwines archaeology, landscape and Roman engineering, exploring the construction techniques of the road, its infrastructure, the theme of travel, and the evolution of the territory.
The Museo Galileo collaborated on the permanent exhibition by designing the reconstruction of a thread-mill crane based on a careful study of literary and iconographic sources from the period as well as producing a video illustrating how the machine worked.
