Venice, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, 18 April 2026
On Saturday 18 April, during the general meeting of the members of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, the Thek@Favaro was launched. This is an integrated digital archive on the life and work of Antonio Favaro, created by Museo Galileo. The video of the event can be accessed on YouTube from this page.
Antonio Favaro is one of the leading figures in the Italian history of science between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was the editor of the National Edition of the Works of Galileo Galilei. The Thek@ makes approximately 13,000 manuscript documents available online, alongside over 1,000 of Favaro’s works (including monographs, articles, and reviews) and around a hundred secondary literature studies dedicated to him. The ‘Chronology’ section retraces the main stages of the scholar’s life, accompanied by a rich collection of iconographic material.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, the Thek@ has been enriched with important materials that testify to Favaro’s close ties with the Venetian institution, of which he was a full member from 1881 and president during the 1905-1907 biennium.
