Museo Galileo and the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana signed an agreement that renews and consolidate the fruitful scientific partnership established in 2022. The new agreement focuses on the study, research, and scholarly dissemination of Leonardo da Vinci’s manuscripts, with particular emphasis on the Codex Atlanticus—preserved at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana—and the development of Leonardo//thek@ as an integrated research tool for the consultation and analysis of Leonardo’s sources.
The first version of Leonardo//thek@, which was launched in March 2023, allows for the digital exploration of nearly 1,200 folios of the Codex Atlanticus, supported by an extensive critical apparatus including transcriptions, scholarly interpretations spanning generations, and cross-references to other manuscripts. The latest version of Leonardo//thek@ incorporates folios from the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle. Users will be able to consult these two massive archives either independently or as a unified corpus, as well as to virtually “recompose” folios that were fragmented by Pompeo Leoni in the late 16th century. Leonardo//thek@ 2.0 will be accessible online starting from June 8th, when it will be launched in London.
