From July 12th to the 16th, the joint meeting of the European Society for the History of Science (ESHS) and the History of Science Society (HSS) brought together 1,959 participants from all over the world. 

Museo Galileo participated in the conference as part of the session “Contested Success and Celebrated Failure”, organized by Michael Korey (Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon - Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden) and Samuel Gessner (Centro Interuniversitário de História das Ciências e da Tecnologia - University of Lisbon) and sponsored by the British Society for the History of Mathematics.

During the session on Tuesday, July 14th, Giorgio Strano, Curator and Head of Collections at Museo Galileo, delivered a talk titled “From the Hand to the Eye: How the ‘Skills’ of Makers and Historians Can Alter the Functions of Planispheric Astrolabes”, focusing on several lesser-studied instruments in the collections.
