
Alessandro Giuli, the Italian Minister of Culture, visited the Museo Galileo yesterday. Following a tour of the halls displaying the Medici Collection, the Minister was briefed on the museum’s primary ongoing projects. These include Leonardo//thek@ and GalileoLab, for which the Ministry of Culture has committed €3 million in funding. This allocation is part of the Decree for the planning of financial resources for “Major Cultural Heritage Projects” for 2025. Minister Giuli also reviewed the successful results of the “Removal of physical and cognitive barriers at the Museo Galileo” project. This initiative was completed in 2024 and was also funded by the Ministry of Culture as part of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). As stated in the Ministry of Culture’s press release, this is ‘a path of growth that makes the Museo Galileo a model of accessibility, sustainability, and participation’.
In attendance were the Minister and his staff, as well as Prof. Francesco Pavone and Prof. Paolo Galluzzi, President and Honorary President of the Museo Galileo, respectively; Gabriele Gori, Director General of the Fondazione CR Firenze; Filippo Camerota and Giovanni Di Pasquale, Scientific Director and Deputy Scientific Director of the Museo Galileo respectively; and Roberto Ferrari, Executive Director of the Museum, who conveyed greetings from the Rector of the University of Florence, Alessandra Petrucci.
