The book, edited by Antonella Gasperini and Giorgio Strano (Pontecorboli Editore, 2023), collects the contributions of the papers presented at the conference held on June 11 and 12, 2022 at Museo Galileo and the INAF-Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri, in collaboration with the Municipality and the University of Florence.

During the two-day celebrations, marking the centenary of the birth of Margherita Hack (1922-2013), scientists, science historians and popularisers retraced her life, dedicated to research in astrophysics, but also to disseminating science, and characterized by a constant commitment to the promotion of civil rights, freedom of thought and public schools.
