Held on the 400th anniversary of the publication of Galileo Galilei's Istoria e dimostrazioni intorno alle macchie solari in 1613, the conference is one of the official events of the "2013, Year of Italian Culture in the United States" project. It is co-sponsored by the Museo Galileo of Florence, the Consulate General of Italy in Boston, the Office of the Dean of Arts & Humanities at Harvard, and the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard, with the collaboration of Trevi Icos. Some of the leading Galileo scholars from Europe and the United States will be present.
