Piero della Francesca: The Fascination of Perspective
Website

The exhibition stages the “two souls” of Piero della Francesca, who was both an exquisite painter and a great mathematician. The mainstay is Piero’s De prospectiva pingendi, a treatise of primary importance for the development of modern perspective that was written around 1475. The exhibition aims at illustrating—through replicas of drawing instruments, codex facsimiles, 3D models and videos—Piero’s mathematical research applied to painting as well as the legacy he left to artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, Daniele Barbaro and perspective theoreticians until the mid-16th century.
