Federico Borromeo and the Galilean Telescope

Cardinal Federico Borromeo, founder of the Ambrosian Library and one of Galileo's friends, showed a great interest in the telescope and in sky observation thanks to the new instrument. Cesare Baroni will focus his speech on the relation between the two characters and the historical context that paved the way to the development of the telescope.

During the meeting Antonio Paganoni, a wood craftsman, will present his creations, illustrating the phases of design and construction of craft telescopes and copies of historical scientific instruments.

The event will be held in Italian.

Participation is free and does not include admission to the museum.
