Cycling through the Past: Stories of Men and Trades

Stia, Museo dell'Arte della Lana
15 March – 16 November 2014

Starting from March 15th Cycling through the Past will be running at the Museo dell’Arte della Lana in the town of Stia, halfway from Florence to Arezzo. The exhibition was created on the occasion of the 2013 UCI World Road Championships and was previously on display at the Museo Galileo in Florence.

Divided in two sections, it shows some of the most significant stages in the development of two-wheeled vehicles. The first section features antique bicycles from the Museo Galileo collections, which are usually kept in storage, while the second one is devoted to the so-called “biciclette dei mestieri” from Marco Paoletti’s collection: two-wheeled vehicles which were modified and fitted with tools to be used for different jobs.
